Roots

A tree

without its roots

suffers, shrivels,

hunching over slowly,

begging for a strong anchor

to help it stand tall,

against the strong winds,

harsh rain falls,

and unbearably hot weathers.

Seasons change,

so does the climate,

and the tree,

it can only survive for so long.

Soon, it falls,

leaving a message,

for the new trees blooming,

and,

the current still surviving:

Without roots,

the fall is guaranteed.

It’s only a matter of time.

So,

create strong roots,

provide them their necessities.

They are the reason you’ll

survive, succeed.

Similarly, a human without

his or her own values,

Beliefs, principles,

is like the fallen tree.

Have strong values,

and live by them.

For, these values,

beliefs and principles,

will assist you

in conquering the world.

This is a very simple poem I wrote approximately one full year ago after having a conversation about values with my best friend. The more and more we spoke, I came to realize that what I believed to be the foundation of life was actually incorrect. The real foundation of life is not only different from person to person, (yeah pretty crazy that there are over 7.5 billion different foundations), this foundation is made up of values to live by. And that is why everyone's foundation is different. Before I give some examples, let's just really quickly define "values" in terms of life.

Values in life are mostly about what you consider important to live the life you've envisioned for yourself. When they are practiced every day, consistently, they help to define your character as well. These values create the roots (see what I did there) that help you achieve what you believe to be a life well-lived and allow you to inspire people along the way.

Now that we've defined values, let me give you an example of what I mean when I say that everyone's foundation is different. To one person, honesty, openmindedness and kindess are the three most important values that form their foundation. For another, along with those three, compassion and positivity come together to form their foundation. To a third person, kindess, compassion and innovation may make up their foundation. And so on. Thus, everyone's foundations vary slightly because their core values differ. This doesn't conclude that others are wrong for not having the same foundation as you. It means that they have a different perspective for life and themselves. It simply means that they are different. Isn't that why even forests have numerous

Everyone's made from a different foundation. Respect and appreciate it. Trust me, you'll learn something new by doing so.
